The summer holiday begins. I am very happy. Last week, I traveled to Zhuhai. It‘s a small but beautiful city. The streets are clean and the buildings are huge. The traffic of Zhuhai is good. There is almost no traffic jams here,because the transportation system is good. Macau is on the opposite of Zhuhai.We can even see the cars running in the streets of Macau. I hope I can step into Macau to visti this magical city.

Today is the first day of the summer camp. The weather is not very good. It rained some time.
I got up very early this morning and walked in Zhejiang University. How large and beautiful Zijingang campus is! After breakfast, we went to take part in the opening of the summer camp. A lot of teachers and schoolmates were there. My best friend Daisy gave a speech. It was successful. After it, our foreign teacher came and we had classes. We introduced ourselves. Our teacher spoke quickly, so I couldn't understand her at all.
In the afternoon, Professor Hu came to teach us English. I thought the class is very boring and also the text is too easy for me. And I found I didn't have enough new words. I think soon I'll adapt this.
This evening, we had class meeting and then I went back to my dorm room. I had a bath and then went to bed.
The first day passed quickly. I hope I can learn more knowledge here.

Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.
However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases e out of the exhausts of motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollution of water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.
Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence. Indifference to these problems will mean mitting suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.
